Oracle Corporation Business quality: Medium
NYSE: ORCL · Software — Infrastructure · United States · Latest fiscal year ended 31 May 2026

Oracle sells businesses the software their processes run on and, for some years now, the computing capacity that software can run on. The old model grants a perpetual licence to the database, the middleware or the applications, collects at once, and sells a renewable annual support contract priced as a percentage of the licence; the filing states that substantially all support customers renew on expiration. The new model is cloud in two forms — applications sold on one- to five-year subscriptions and infrastructure sold on consumption or committed multi-year contracts — where revenue arrives over time and the cost arrives first, as data centres to be built or leased.

Analysis last updated 19 October 2026 · All figures from Oracle Corporation's Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended 31 May 2026, filed with the SEC on 22 June 2026, and from the same company's proxy statement for the 2026 annual meeting. The statements are in US dollars under US GAAP and are reported in millions, shown here in billions. The balance sheet is presented for two years only, so balance-sheet series stop at FY2025 and FY2024 ROIC cannot be computed; FY2024 equity is taken from the statement of stockholders' equity. ROIC is operating income taxed at the year's effective rate, over equity plus gross debt including finance leases, less cash and marketable securities, on year-end balances. The price of $225.78 is the close on 31 May 2026 and the 2,880,471,000 shares are the 10-K cover count at 12 June 2026: both are inputs supplied to the analysis, not figures computed from the filing. No other market data, estimate, consensus or target price is used.
